Carmel Girls XC Win Nike Twilight for the 2nd Straight Year

The Carmel Girls Cross Country TEAM continued their stretch of winning by capturing the prestigious Nike Twilight Championship at LaVern Gibson in Terre Haute on 10/6/25. This the 2nd straight year the Greyhounds have won this title and they did in in record fashion by beating 42 other teams and establishing a meet record for the fastest time average through 5 runners. The TEAM's nearest competitor, highly ranked Mr. Prospect of Illinois, was 69 points behind. The Hounds were lead by the trio of Annabel Pollert-Jr., Sadie Foley-Sr., and Larkin Taylor-Jr. The three 2024 All-Staters finished 5, 7, and 8th respectively to secure valuable team points up front. Margo Halle-So. and Kaitlyn Oshimura-Sr. followed suit by running personal best times on this touch course of 18:41 and 18:56. Pollert's 17:31, Foley's 17:35, and Taylor's 17:27 combined for an average of 90:12 which is a stellar average of 18:02.4. Other varsity runners for the TEAM were Maddie Cox-Sr., Anna Yoon-Jr., Lilliana Cate-Sr., Ashley Kent-Fr., and Elise Maurer-So. The Greyhounds resume action on October 18, 2025 at North Central in the Sectional as they begin their journey to defend their 2024 State title. In the competitive Open Blue race, the Greyhounds were 1st among 70 teams. Seniors Arden Finley and Ellie Smith had personal best times at LaVern Gibson. Finley's 7th place finish, Smith in 13th, Maija Gilhooly-Jr. (19th), Katie Zhuravlev-So. (28th), and Izzie Shin-So.(29th) rounded out the scoring for the Greyhounds. Other performers for the TEAM were Molly Foley-Fr., Annabelle Inman-Jr., Caroline Maurer-Fr., Emma Kistler-Sr., and Emma Meisner-Jr.
