Greyhound Track & Field 2023 Season Wrap Up The 2023 season came to an end on Saturday night with the conclusion of the IHSAA State Finals. Our Hounds finished 3rd overall in the final standings! We had both ups and downs. The heat was tough for everyone, but we are definitely tougher for it! We all learned some things and we are already looking forward to what we can accomplish in the future, on and off the track. Side note, every girl that competed on Saturday won a medal and earned ALL-STATE status in an event! Final Team Scores. Hounds placed 3rd in the state overall scoring 33 points. Long Jump Gaby Grande Rosas - Gaby placed 14th overall with a jump of 16-06. Being only a freshman, we are looking forward to Gaby making a return trip to the IHSAA Finals! 4x800m RELAY The team of Audrey Ricketts, Jasmine Klopstad, Kara Wenzler, and Olivia Cebalo were state runner-ups, the same team placed 4th last year. What a great improvement! The team ran a 9:12.74. Just missing their season best. ALL-STATE 100m Dash Emily Norris - The start of a very challenging, but amazing day for sophomore Emily Norris! Emily just missed qualifying for the 100m finals finishing 10th (9 qualify). It was a crazy fast race, she ran a 10.15 in the prelims. 1600m RUN Sadie Foley- Wow! What can I say... this young lady had a great last month of the season. Breaking the 5:00-minute mark as a freshman is an amazing accomplishment! She finished 7th in the finals, with a time of 4:58.34. ALL-STATE 4x100m RELAY The team of Becca Belanger, Emily Norris, D'ahni Branch, and Gaby Grande Rosas finished 4th place in a time of 47.76. Just missing their own school record. This has been such a fun relay to watch all season. The race itself was really fast! 4 teams going under 48 and one team going under 47. ALL-STATE Gaby Grande Rosas, D'ahni Branch, Becca Belanger, and Emily Norris. 4th place 4x100m relay. 400m DASH Cambell Wamsley and Olivia Cebalo - Cambell finished 10th in 57.12. Olivia placed 12th in 57.34. This was a wild one! One of the fastest overall 400m finals I've seen in a while. All 3 heats of this race were fast. Great job to the girls for getting out there and competing in one of the hardest events in track. We are looking forward to seeing Cambell compete at IU next year! We know she'll be doing great things for the Hoosiers! 800m Run Audrey Ricketts - Audrey placed 12th with a time of 2:18.65. This turned out to be one of the most competitive races of the night. Audrey did a great job and we are looking forward to her having a great senior year. 200m DASH Emily Norris - Emily placed 4th in the 200m dash! She ran a 25.02, EXTREMLEY impressive considering the heat and it was her 4th race of the night. Emily had one heck of a meet and one heck of a season! ALL-STATE 4x400m RELAY The team of Gaby Grande Rosas, Olivia Cebalo, Cambell Wamsley and Emily Norris won the 4x400 and are state champions! They beat the runner-up team by 7 seconds, running a silly fast time of 3:47.86. Which is also a new school record!
