Carmel Girls XC Wins the Valley Inv. at LaVern Gibson

The Carmel Girls Cross Country team opened their 2025 season by winning the Valley Invite at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country facility in Terre Haute. In 90 degree heat and less than ideal running conditions, the Greyhounds Annabel Pollert(Jr.) and Larkin Taylor (Jr.) finished 1-2 respectively while the next the team scorers placed 12th (Margo Halle-So.), 18th (Kaitlyn Oshimura-Sr.), and 26th (Anna Yoon-Jr) to round out the team scoring in the 256 runner and 27 team field. This was the team's first trip back to Lavern after capturing the 2024 State Title in November and then securing a spot to Niike Nationals through the NIke Regional which was contested in Terre Haute. Other varsity performers for the hounds were Seniors, Noelle Avila, Arden Finley, Maddie Cox, and Lilliana Cate. Also, Ashley Kent-Fr., Elise Maurer-So., and Kalinda Lee-Jr. In the Junior Varsity Race, the Greyhounds won the team and individual titles. They were lead by race winner Maija Gilhooly-Jr., Emma Kistler-Sr., 2nd place, and Ellie Smith-Sr., 3rd place. Next up for the team is the Cleland Inv. 4K at Northview on Saturday, 8/23/2025.
