Senior Student-Athletes Michael Major and Emily Norris have been named as the recipients of the Carmel High School Mental Attitude Award. The recognition is the highest honor given by the athletic department annually. Nominations are made by head coaches of the 29 Varsity Sports offered at Carmel. Voting is conducted by the head coaches. Michael Major Michael has been a cornerstone of the wrestling program during his career. Consistently leading by example both on and off the mat. "What's best for the team, that's what I want to do." Major headed into his junior season of wrestling ranked second in the state at his weight class. He suffered a season-ending injury early in the season and then spent the next year getting ready for another chance at his ultimate goal. Michael overcame this adversity with a phenomenal senior season capped by a State Runner-Up finish at 165 pounds. He finished with a career record of 86-16. Major has a 4.04 grade point average and will attend Indiana University with a direct admit to the Kelly School of Business. Emily Norris Emily has set a new standard for achievement in many events with the Carmel Track & Field program. She has the school record in the 60 meter, 100 meter, 200 meter dashes and the indoor long jump. At the State Meet, Emily has placed 4th and 8th in the 200 meter dash. Norris has also been a part of the team's 4x100 school record relay as well as being a member of the 4x400 state championship relay in 2024. Emily is recognized as an extremely hard worker with a positive attitude. Her humble nature has made her a role model and leader within the program. Norris will attend Liberty University in the Fall and will continue running track & field.
