Carmel High School Women’s Tennis 2025 Coaching Staff: ● Head Coach: Daniel Brunette, dbrunett@ccs.k12.in.us ● Varsity Assistant Coach: Mark Branaman, mbranana@ccs.k12.in.us ● JV Coach: Claire Reifeis, creifeis2@gmail.com ● Freshman Coach: John Faas, jfaas@ccs.k12.in.us Practice: ● Practice time: 5:30-7:30pm, weather/light dependant ● Players will drive themselves, parents drive, or carpool to practice ● Locations: Clay Middle School/Carmel Middle School. Creekside Middle School as needed ○ Freshman at Carmel Middle School ○ JV/Varsity at Clay Middle School ● If we cannot go outside- we will still meet after school (need 8 practices ASAP) ● Practices are closed to parents and outsiders unless notified otherwise ● TIME AND LOCATION ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE- TENTATIVE Important Dates: ● After school workouts start: 1/14 ○ Meet in the weight room at 4:20pm, done by 5:15pm ○ Tuesdays/Thursdays after school ● First practice/tryouts: 3/17 ● Spring Break: 4/4-4/11 ○ No matches or practices unless otherwise notified ● IHSAA Tournament will take place after school is over, be prepared To Participate: ● Must have an IHSAA physical form completed from this school year ● Must make an account and upload your physical to Remind My Athlete (Aktivate) ○ https://www.registermyathlete.com/login/ ○ If you your registration is complete, under your name it will show a green dot ● Must be enrolled and passing at least 5 classes not counting SRT Teams: ● Varsity/Junior Varsity: 25-30 players ● Freshman: 12-14 players Playing time, lineups, teams: ● We have one of the largest teams in the state ● Coaches will do their best to get players as many match opportunities as possible ○ This might include some sophomores playing freshman matches ○ Be on the lookout for more JV matches ● Coaches will not discuss lineups with parents ○ If a player has an issue, please request a meeting with the coaches ○ In meetings, coaches will not discuss other players ● In terms of who makes what team, we will conduct a thorough try-out using challenge matches. Coaches reserve the right to move players during the season between teams Communication: ● Remind App ○ Text the number 81010 with the message @chwt2025 to receive team messages ○ You can also signup for email messages ○ I advise you to download the app (free) ○ USE THIS TO COMMUNICATE WITH COACHES! ● Google Form: Uniforms: ● Two Nike Skirts ● Two Nike Shirts ● Additional clothing from team fees ● Cost to players approximately $200 (will be finalized before the season starts) Team Fees: ● JV/Varsity: $150 ● Freshman: $100 ● Checks payable to “Carmel Girls Tennis Team Fund”- due Thursday the first week of tryouts ● This pays for: sweatshirt, Team Dinners for big events, Pasta Parties, End of Season Banquet, Team Gifts, Locker signs, Other program support- extra coach Fundraiser ● A letter explaining this year’s fundraising campaign will be sent out before the season starts. We will be using Aktivate for our fundraiser this year rather than continually asking for money to fund the team. ● It is an online fundraising platform approved by Carmel High School ● The campaign is scheduled to start on March 17th ● Each player is tasked with raising $300. This is a commitment to be a part of the team. ● The Top fundraiser (over $500) will get a prize. Every player that raises over $500 will get their Team Fee refunded. Team Beverages and Snacks ● Minimum donation of 1 case of bottled water and 1 box of non perishable snacks. ● Further instructions will be given as we get closer to the season. Order at your own risk as we will not be finalizing the team until later in March · https://bsnteamsports.com/shop/HXknDqXSqQ Rules and Consequences- CHWT 2025 The following steps will be used to maintain the rules of the CHS Women’s Tennis team: 1. Player will lose the privilege to play in practice or match 2. Parent/Player/Coach meeting. Player will not be admitted back to practice until after the meeting. 3. If no progress is shown, suspension from the CHWT team. 1. Foul language, unsportsmanlike conduct, taunting and racquet, line call, or ball abuse will not be tolerated. High School tennis is governed under the rules of the USTA, thus we will be following the same rules. Failure to meet the appropriate standards will result in swift punishment according to the steps listed above. 2. Players are expected to communicate with coaches appropriately. Unexcused absences or tardies from practices, matches or mandatory team events without a written excuse is a rule infraction. 3. No cell phones will be permitted on the tennis court. Players will not have them during practice. 4. Failure to have proper equipment or uniform for matches will result in suspension from match play. 5. Drugs, alcohol, and gambling activity will be punished based on the regulations of the CHS student handbook and the school administration. 6. Failure to follow the coaches’ directions or show the coaches and your teammates respect will result in suspension from practice and competition until the player proves her ability to cooperate. 7. Players will not be allowed to travel home from away matches unless coaches have been notified ahead of time. 8. There will be no hazing or any form of bullying allowed on the Carmel High School Women’s Tennis Team. This includes all types of bullying (cyber, physical, etc..) 9. Conduct unbecoming to the school will result in school disciplinary action. 10. Players will stay at matches until all junior varsity and varsity matches are finished unless previously arranged with the coaching staff. Do not schedule lessons, tutoring sessions, etc… on match nights.
