The boys cross country team won the North Central Sectional for the second consecutive year, this season with a record 21 points to outdistance Zionsville (53), North Central (84), Chatard (97) and Heritage Christian (163). The top five teams advance to next week’s Brownsburg Regional. Sophomore Jonah Kaul led the team in a breakout race, winning individually in a PR of 15:36. Senior Jack Capes held off the rest of the field for second in a PR of 15:38 after leading much of the race. The duo paralleled the 1-2 finish for the ‘Hounds last year. The Carmel pack sealed a comfortable win, led by junior Carter Buhr who finished fifth after leading the first 1000 meters. Buhr (16:01) was followed quickly into the chute by senior Will Gilhooly (16:03), senior Cohen Levy (16:04) and junior Deklin Bowser (16:04) who took places six through eight.
