The Carmel Girls Cross Country TEAM competed in and won the prestigious NIKE Twilight Meet at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country course in Terre Haute, IN, on 10/5/2024. The race was held under the lights at 9:30 pm and included a field of 55 teams from all over the country and 500 runners. The Greyhounds maintained a tight running pack from 19th-42nd place through 4 runners and then had their last scorer, Katy Dascoi-(Sr.) finish in 98th to secure the victory. Sadie Foley(Sr.)-19th place and Annabel Pollert(So.)-25th lead the squad with personal best times of 18:14 and 18:22 for the 5K distance. Close behind them were Olivia Mundt(Sr.)-40th place and Larkin Taylor(So.)-41st place. Mundt had a lifetime best at LaVern and Taylor bested her state meet time from 2023. Other varsity performers were Margo Halle(Fr.), Noelle Avila(Jr.), Ella Weaver(Fr.), Charlotte Konow(Sr.), and Maija Gilhooly(So.). This was the TEAM’s 6th win of the season. Next up for the Greyhounds is the IHSAA Sectional Championship at North Central High School on October 19, 2024.
