The Greyhounds took on the Brebeuf Braves in their first game of the IHSAA state tournament tonight, coming out on top in a penalty kick shootout. The Braves took an early lead off of a corner kick. The Hounds were able to equalize when Senior Aidan McLaughlin hit a laser beam from a good distance on a beautiful run up the field. The game was knotted up 1-1 at halftime. During the second half, the Hounds created numerous scoring opportunities but could not capitalize, and the score remained tied at the end of regulation. The teams completed two seven-minute overtime periods only to see the score still tied at 1-1. The game would now be decided by penalty kicks and the Hounds connected on all five opportunities winning the shootout by a score of 5-4. The Hounds return to action on Saturday night vs #3 Noblesville, with a scheduled kickoff of 7:00 PM. The team's record now stands at 6-7-3.
