On an unseasonably warm and humid morning, the boys cross country team competed in the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by Shelbyville on the Blue River cross country course. Junior Zach Flint led the way for the 'Hounds in 16:51 to place 19th in the "black" division for large schools. Junior Isaac Perrin along with seniors Cohen Levy, Josh Cale and Dominic Riego rounded out scoring for the 'Hounds on a day where many saw first ever varsity action. Carmel finished fourth in the team score behind Northville, possibly the number one team in Michigan, and likely state meets qualifying teams of Fishers and Mt. Vernon. In the JV race, Lucas Mallon led wire-to-wire to win in 17:36 with freshman Grant VanNahmen finishing fourth in 17:56. The 'Hounds are next in action for the Culver Academies Invitational on September 28.
