Boys Cross Country 2nd at Hamilton County

The boys cross country team opened the regular season schedule on a warm and humid day by finishing second in the varsity race to host Noblesville. Senior Jack Capes led the way for the Greyhounds with a sixth-place finish in 15:52. Senior Kiefer Jay, sophomore Jonah Kaul and junior Deklin Bowser finished closely together in 11th, 12th and 13th respectively to earn all-county honors. Junior Carter Buhr rounded our scoring in 22nd. Junior Zach Flint, sophomore Cooper Szotek, junior Isaac Perrin and sophomore Ben Meisner all ran lifetime best performances. Noblesville tallied 36 points to win by 28 over the 'Hounds with Hamilton Southeastern third and Fishers fourth. In the JV race, senior Will Gilhooly led wire-to-wire with a 19-second victory in 17:06 to lead three 'Hounds in the top five. Sophomore Zach Judy finished third in his first ever 5000-meter race in 17:28 and sophomore Trevor Walton was fifth in 17:29, also a lifetime best. In a very close team race, HSE edged Carmel, 27-30.
