By Scott Williams (Girls Head Coach) The Carmel Girls Cross Country TEAM competed in the Cleland Invite meet on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Northview Church Cross Country Course in Carmel against 17 other teams including defending state champions Fort Wayne Homestead. The format of this meet is a 4K with a Freshman/Sophomore scored race, a Junior/Senior scored race, and then a combined score tally to determine the overall individual and TEAM places. On a sunny, humid morning in Carmel, Indiana, the Greyhounds won the Junior/Senior race, were a close second in Freshman/Sophomore race, and were the overall combined champions with a convincing 24 point win over 2nd place that included a field of 18 teams. Junior Sadie Foley won the Junior/Senior race. Sophomore Annabel Pollert won the Freshman/Sophomore race. When score totals were combined, the Greyhounds swept the first two spots with Foley and Pollert. To secure the win, the scoring was rounded out by Larkin Taylor(4th), Margo Halle (6th), Katy Dascoli (20th), Ella Gaddis (22nd) and Kaitlyn Oshimura (27th) out of a total of 418 runners. Next up for the girls cross country Greyhounds is the Hamilton County Championship on 8/31/24 at 9:00 am in Noblesville (White River Valley Elementary School).
