Each year the Carmel Athletics Department honors the coaches of the year. Nominations and voting are completed exclusively thru all coaches at Carmel High School. The 2023-2024 Assistant Coach of the Year is Julie Faas. Julie finished her 30th season with the Greyhound girls soccer program last year. She has been instrumental in the ongoing success of the program over the last three decades. Julie has been on the coaching staff for 9 state championships as well as two National Championships (2002 & 2011). The 2023-2024 Jack Meachum Head Coach of the Year is Chris Plumb. Chris reached the pinnacle of his storied tenure at Carmel during the past school year. The Greyhounds dominated the boys and girls state swimming meets again in 2024. The two state championships added to Plumb's IHSAA record 32 titles during his career. Chris had numerous student-athletes earn spots in the Olympic Trials in Indianapolis. Plumb trained Alex Shackell and Aaron Shackell as they earned their way on to the Olympic Team at the Trials along with former Greyhound Drew Kibler. Plumb was named to the Olympics Coaching staff and Alex won the first Gold Medal in CHS history. He is the CEO and Head Coach of the Carmel Swim Club. The Head Coach of the Year Award is named after Greyhound Coach Jack Meachum, who lost his life in a tragic car accident in August 2023. He left us a legacy as a transformational coach willing to dedicate his time, expertise, and wisdom to the student-athletes of the lacrosse program.
