The journey to the IHSAA tournament got off to a bumpy start on August 17 with a loss to a very good HSE team, 3-1. While there were many good moments in this game, there were too many defensive breakdowns to overcome. The brightest moment came with less than a minute to play when Junior Kate Klinginsmith sent a free kick into Sophomore Elsie Flanders for the lone Carmel goal. Chances at goal were few against a tight HSE defense. The girls play again Tuesday, Aug 20 at Murray Stadium against 2A power South Bend St. Joe. Game time is 7 PM.
