The Carmel Athletic Department is looking forward to the 2024-2025 school year. The halfway point of construction on the Carmel High School campus will hit this fall. We know it has been a disruption for many families and we appreciate your patience. The end result is going to be exciting for our student-athletes and fans in the future! Here is an overview of projects that are finishing and those that will start in the 2024-2025 school year and beyond. ● Replacement of the turf practice fields north of the football stadium will be complete in July of 2024. Replacement of the turf fields at Murray Stadium and the football stadium occurred in the summer of 2023. ● Construction of the Greyhound Activity Center started in the spring of 2023. Completion of the project is scheduled for September 2024. The facility will feature an indoor, full-size turf football field. It will be used for the Marching Greyhounds, other performing arts groups, various school events, the Athletics Department, severe weather location for events at the stadium, and as a testing center in the spring. ● The natatorium project continues on the north end of the academic building on campus. The new natatorium will open at the end of September 2024. A natatorium complex will be in place with two, 50 meter pools for use by Carmel swimmers when everything is finished. The existing natatorium will be renovated during the last half of 2024 with scheduled completion in early 2025. The new natatorium will feature 1400 seats, a separate diving well, and therapy pool opportunities for Greyhound student-athletes in all sports programs. The project will also provide a new entrance at the north end of the building (Door 21) as well as a roundabout for traffic flow in this busy area. ● A new building will open to start the 2024 football season at the south end of the stadium. The structure features two buildings with a connecting arch tunnel entry gate for spectators as a main entry point for stadium events. The buildings contain public restrooms, a concession stand, incident command center for events, and a locker room to be used by freshmen football in the fall and girls track & field in the spring. ● Finally, the design phase is well underway for the renovation and expansion of the home side bleacher structure at the football stadium. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2024. Conceptually, the following areas will be part of the project: Concrete rehabilitation, expansion of the training room, redesign of locker room space, new concession stand service, new ramping and ticketing areas, exterior fencing, updated press box concept, extended concourse square footage. The project will extend thru the 2025 season with completion in the Fall of 2026. As with any construction project, there has been and will continue to be a lot of dust and inconveniences, but the end result will be great for our Greyhounds. The football schedule will feature some of the best teams in the Midwest as the Hounds will play some great programs in 2024. The regular season opens with Homestead on August 23. Two straight road games follow in weeks 2 and 3 as Coach Hebert’s team starts a series with Westfield on August 30 followed by a trip to traditional Ohio power Centerville. On September 13, Trinity (Kentucky) travels to Carmel to continue an ongoing rivalry across state lines. This will also be Future Greyhounds Night. Homecoming will be September 20 against Brebeuf Jesuit. A trip to the oldest rival on the schedule North Central follows Homecoming on September 27. The Greyhounds then close with home games against defending state champion Ben Davis on October 4 and Lawrence Central on October 18. Future schedule changes include a road trip to Fishers during Week 1 in 2025, followed by the 2025 home opener in Week 2 against Westfield. We are excited to share our Friday nights with the six-time National Champion Marching Greyhounds as they will perform at each home game! The Marching Greyhounds hold the longest streak in the nation with 26 consecutive National Bands of America Finals appearances. The Athletic Department continues its partnership with GoFan, a digital ticketing company, to bring an easy and convenient digital platform to your Friday nights. Your season ticket will be available on your smart phone through the GoFan Mobile Pass instead of a separate plastic card. All athletic events will operate on a Cashless system at all events. Paper money will not be accepted at events or in the pre-purchasing of tickets. Instead, tickets and passes may be purchased from your mobile device as your ticket into the event. Credit cards will be accepted at all venues as well instead of paper money. Thank you for your support as we know it will be filled with great memories for our young people. Go Hounds!
