Girls Track & Field finishes 5th at the IHSAA State Finals

The Greyhounds competed at the IHSAA Track & Field State Finals on Friday. The Hounds came away with a 5th place finish, in what was a highly competitive and exciting track meet. Carmel opened the meet with a state runner-up finish in the 4x800m relay. The team of Audrey Ricketts (2:17.20), Larkin Taylor (2:16.39), Kaitlyn Oshimura (2:17.53) and Olivia Cebalo (2:15.46) ran a combined time of 9:06.59. This relay time was 2nd all-time in Carmel's impressive history of 4x800s. 11th fastest time in IHSAA state meet history. Freshman Emma Warner placed 14th in the high jump, with a jump of 5-4. She tied 4 other girls (12th-16th) at 5-4, it came down to misses to determine the place. Such a great experience for a freshman. Gaby Grande Rosas had an amazing state meet. Gaby started the day finishing 11th in the long jump, with a jump of 17-8. She then finished 6th in the 400m run, running a 56.88. Gaby was also the lead leg in the state champion 4x400m relay. Emily Norris had a very big day as well. Emily place 11th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.48. She came back and finished 8th in the 200m dash in a time of 25.57. Emily capped the day with an incredible finish in the 4x400m relay, coming from 3rd with 100m to go, to pass 2 competitors, to grab the 4x400m title for the Greyhounds. Sadie Foley placed 12th in a wild and SUPER fast 1600m run. Sadie ran 4:59.66, in what was probably the fastest overall 1600m race in state meet history. Sadie was also the 2nd leg in the state championship 4x400m relay. The 4x400m relay of Gaby Grande Rosas, Sadie Foley, Olivia Cebalo and Emily Norris were state champions. Emily Norris closed the race in 55.86 to come from behind and grab the victory for the team. Such an amazing finish in the most exciting race of the evening. Their overall time was 3:50.90, which is the 2nd fastest in Carmel's 4x400m relay history.
