On an ideal day for distance running with temperatures in the low 50s and total cloud cover, the boys cross country won the state championship with 76 points, outdistancing a podium of top five teams that was dominated by central Indiana. The victory marks the program's seventh state title since 2012, the second lowest point total in that time frame and the best average time (15:33) since the state finals moved to the famed LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in 2004. A trio of seniors led the way with All-State finishes: Tony Provenzano 4th in 15:06, Kyle Grove 7th in 15:18 and Thomas Biltimier 21st in 15:34. Junior Jack Capes (34th in 15:49) and sophomore Carter Buhr (63rd in 16:00) rounded out scoring for the 'Hounds. Senior Max Meisner and junior Kiefer Jay also competed and pushed back scorers from the other 24 schools. Fishers finished second in the team score with 185 points, providing the widest margin of victory in 43 years at the state meet.
