The 2023 Lady Greyhounds golf team successfully defended its 2022 title by repeating as the 2023 IHSAA Girls Golf State Champions last weekend at Prairie View GC in Carmel. Although the girls trailed Westfield (runner up) by a shot after Day 1 (306-307) they knew it was just "halftime", and the final 18 holes on Saturday would truly determine who was the best in Indiana. Carmel went out and blitzed the field on Day 2 shooting a field-best score of 301 to finish at 608, nine shots better than Westfield. Scoring for Carmel: Michaeala Headlee - +1, T2 Claire Swathwood - +5, T6 Kamryn Williams - +12, T18 Sophie Mock - +13, T22 Freshman Maddie Headlee also competed for the first time in a State Championship field, and was +33 over the two days. Carmel ends the season as Sectional Champions, Regional Champions, and IHSAA State Champions for a second consecutive season. Go 'Hounds!
