The Hounds are headed to the Final Four. Carmel Boys Volleyball continued its historic postseason run on Saturday, capturing the Peru Regional Championship and advancing to the state semifinals for the first time since 2019 and for the first time in the IHSAA-sanctioned era of boys volleyball. The Greyhounds opened the day with a dominant victory over Fort Wayne Carroll, winning in straight sets 25-14, 25-17, 25-23. Carmel delivered one of its most complete offensive performances of the season, averaging 15.7 kills per set while hitting an impressive .339 as a team. Leading the charge was sophomore standout Eli Philistin-Lynch, who exploded for 20 kills in just three sets, continuing his remarkable postseason run and establishing himself as one of the state’s premier offensive threats. In the middle, Dylan Kaiser continued his efficient play, contributing 6 kills on 11 swings while helping the Greyhounds maintain offensive balance. The regional championship match brought a highly anticipated rematch with Zionsville, after the two teams battled earlier in the season in a four-set Carmel victory. This time, however, the Greyhounds elevated their play to another level. Carmel swept the Eagles 25-18, 25-12, 25-19 behind another overwhelming offensive performance. The Greyhounds averaged 16.3 kills per set, consistently staying in system and controlling the tempo throughout the match. The outside duo of Thomas Kuehl and Eli Philistin-Lynch combined for 28 of the team’s 49 kills, overwhelming the Eagles defensively and terminating in key moments throughout the evening. Ian Czarnecki was nearly unstoppable offensively, recording 10 kills on just 16 swings without committing an error, providing one of his most efficient performances of the season. At the net, Jack Kovac delivered another major postseason performance with 8 kills on 12 swings while adding 4 blocks, helping control momentum throughout the match. Freshman libero Jett Burke also had a breakout Saturday, totaling 43 digs across the two matches and anchoring Carmel’s defense during the regional run. The regional championship marks another milestone in what has become one of the most successful seasons in recent Carmel history. The Greyhounds now advance to the state semifinals and will face defending state champion and top-ranked Roncalli in a true #1 vs. #2 showdown. The match will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Lawrence North High School, with a trip to the IHSAA State Championship on the line.
