The varsity women's cross country team competed at the Culver Invitational on Saturday, September 23. This was the first time the Greyhounds have competed in this invitational in several years and this was a new course for all members of the team. The varsity team won the varsity title in a tight battle with Fort Wayne Concordia. Both teams finished with 42 points, but Carmel's 6th finished ahead of Concordia's awarding the Greyhounds the team title. The Greyhounds were led by strong races from freshmen, Annabel Pollert and Larkin Taylor, finishing in 4th and 5th overall (19:20, 19:21). SR Audrey Ricketts had an incredible race blasting through the second half to finish just ahead of teammate SR Emersyn Weaver as they took 8th and 9th places (both at 19:32). The Greyhounds finished their scoring with JR Charlotte Konow taking 16th, JR Olivia Mundt finishing 21st, and JR Katy Dascoli in 22nd. SR Cara Naas, JR Ella Gaddis, and JR Nola Elling rounded out the 10 women team that competed in the varsity race. All finished in the top 35. Carmel's women looked very impressive in the junior varsity race. SR Kara Wenzler lead from the start to take the individual championship. She led 11 teammates to hold the first twelve places as Carmel scored a perfect 15 points to win the team title. FR Maija Gilhooly was second, FR Annabelle Inman was third, SO Caroline Schmidt took fourth, FR Malia Larger was fifth, SO Arden Finley took 6th, and SR Madeline Weisner was seventh to complete the team's sweep in points.
