Strong Night for Carmel Girls at Franklin Central Flashes Showcase

The Carmel Girls Track & Field team delivered an impressive performance Friday night at the Franklin Central Flashes Showcase, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 4x800 relay and outstanding depth across the mile races. Carmel opened the night with a win in the 4x800 relay, crossing the line first in 9:36.01. The Greyhounds finished comfortably ahead of the field, with Westfield taking second in 9:56.26 and Brownsburg placing third in 9:59.46. Carmel’s relay was made up of Maija Gilhooly, Molly Foley, Kalinda Lee, and Gaby Grande Rosas. Gilhooly led off in 2:29.14, Foley followed with a 2:24.89, Lee added a 2:25.69, and Grande Rosas closed in style with a strong 2:16.08 anchor leg. The Greyhounds also made a big statement in the championship mile, placing three runners in the top seven of a loaded field. Annabel Pollert led the way with a 3rd-place finish in 4:50.73, followed by Larkin Taylor in 5th at 4:52.12 and Sadie Foley in 7th at 4:53.53. Carmel continued to show tremendous depth throughout the rest of the mile races. In Heat 6, Kaitlyn Oshimura raced to a first-place finish in 5:02.20. In Heat 3, Ellie Smith placed 3rd in 5:21.17, Arden Finley finished 8th in 5:29.05, and Anna Yoon took 11th in 5:31.47. In Heat 2, Maddie Cox placed 12th in 5:34.45. In Heat 1, Ella Weaver finished 7th in 5:37.46, while Lilliana Cate placed 10th in 5:38.33. It was a strong all-around night for Carmel, as the Greyhounds showed front-end firepower, excellent depth, and the ability to compete at a high level across the distance events.
