Carmel Boys Volleyball dropped a hard-fought match to Hamilton Southeastern in dramatic fashion, falling in five sets after taking the opening two. The Greyhounds came out strong, winning 26-24, 25-16, before the Royals battled back to take the final three sets 25-22, 25-23, 15-13. Carmel controlled much of the early momentum, executing at a high level offensively and putting consistent pressure on Hamilton Southeastern. However, the Royals responded with increased defensive intensity and timely plays down the stretch to complete the reverse sweep. The Greyhounds were led by Eli Philistin-Lynch, who delivered an outstanding performance with 24 kills on the night, continuing his strong start to the season. Dylan Kaiser was highly efficient offensively, finishing with an impressive .583 hitting percentage, providing a steady and reliable presence at the net. In his season debut, Jack Kovac made an immediate impact defensively, recording five total blocks and helping to slow down the Royals’ attack at key moments. Running the offense, Shep Spidel distributed the ball effectively, totaling 51 assists while keeping Carmel’s hitters in rhythm throughout the match. Defensively, Thomas Kuehl anchored the back row with 17 digs, while Brice Hagaman added 10 digs, contributing to a strong overall defensive effort. Despite the result, Carmel showed resilience and competitiveness against a sectional opponent, gaining valuable early-season experience in a high-level match. The Greyhounds return home tonight, March 25th, to host Franklin Community in their first home match of the season. The evening will also feature Teacher Appreciation Night, with varsity scheduled to begin at approximately 7:00 PM at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
