Girls Cross Country Nets Win at Brownsburg

The girls cross country grabbed a victory over ranked teams at the future site of the regional championship at the Brownsburg Invitational. The 'Hounds scored 54 points to outdistance #9 North Central (68) and #21 Brownsburg on a seasonally average day that produced times slightly faster than last week. Freshman Annabel Pollert took 33 seconds off her time from the previous weekend to lead the 'Hounds with her fourth-place finish in 19:03. Junior Olivia Mundt was seventh overall in 19:12, 14 seconds ahead of her performance at last week's Hamilton County meet. Freshman Larkin Taylor became the second ninth-grader to score for the team, finishing 11th in 19:41 with seniors Emersyn Weaver (14th in 19:41) and Audrey Ricketts (18th in 19:47) rounding out scoring. Junior Charlotte Konow (19th in 19:52) also finished in the top 20. Carmel outdistanced the field in the JV with 21 points to North Central's 58 with eight in the top ten individuals. Sophomore Arden Finley won in 20:31 with seniors Cara Naas (20:51) and Madeline Weisner (21:15) finishing third and fourth. The 'Hounds next compete at the Eagle Classic in Brown County against several of the state's best teams.
